Wade
Cox
began playing bluegrass as a teenager. Growing up in the central
part of Virginia, his bluegrass influences orignated from
the music of Reno & Smiley, Bill Monroe, Red Allen, The
Bluegrass Cardinals and many other traditional bands. He honed
his musical skills jamming with friends at the bluegrass festivals
and pickin' parties. His onstage experience began with a 2-year
stint touring the US and and Canada with Solong Recording
artist, Mitch Harrell and The South River Express.
Most recenly, Wade
played for nearly 3 years with Blue Circle Records' artist Heather Berry traveling
the region with her and her band Dominion Grass. He has also filled in with the
Legendary band The Country Gentlemen and Joe Isaacs and worked as a us studio
musician on recording projects for numerous blugrass artists.
Growing up in a 'land of bluegrass music' in Lynchburg, Virginia
(hometown to the legendary Don Reno), Wade had the opportunity
to be around what he considers to be some of the finest musicians
in the bluegrass business like Randy Graham; sons of Don Reno,
Dale and Donne Wayne; the Pheonix Band, the Deer Creek Boys,
and many other top-notch local bluegrass bands and musicians.
Just this past month (Dec '08) Wade
completed a traditional bluegrass solo project titled "Heroes and Friends"
featuring incredible musicians and his personal friends: Heather Berry, Tony Mabe,
Robert Overstreet, John Simmons, Jeremy Stephens, Mike Tyree, Jason Tomlin and
Cason Ogden (of Award Winning Deer Creek Boys) and Steve Wilson (formerly with
Don Reno and The Tennessee Cutups and The Lost & Found) Bonny Beverly (also
formerly with Don Reno and The Tennessee Cutups).
